Australian broker Blueberry has hired Ghaith Alghatas as its new Head of Partners for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Alghatas joins the brokerage group from rival firm Pepperstone, where he spent six months and also worked as a partners manager.
The new Blueberry executive has worked in the online trading industry for almost a decade. His first role was at Alvexo in a sales role.
Since then he has held sales and partnership roles at several firms, including FxPro and London Capital Group.
Alghatas’s longest stints were at IC Markets, where he spent almost three years and was Team Leader of the partners department, and Windsor Brokers. He also spent close to three years at the latter firm.
Blueberry has been expanding more outside of its core markets in the last 18 months or so.
The broker appears to have focused its initial efforts on APAC and its home market, Australia.
However, the company now has a sizeable presence in Europe, via an office in Bulgaria. Like other providers, the broker appears to be relying on reverse solicitation rules for its European business.
Alghatas’s appointment suggests the firm will also be making a push into the MENA region. Currently the broker does not have a license in the region and will likely be using entities in Vanuatu and Mauritius to onboard customers.
