Exclusive: Deus X launches Deus X Markets, hires ex-IG exec Tim Plummer as CEO

Private equity and venture capital firm Deus X Capital has launched a new business called Deus X Markets. The new brand will provide a ‘brokerage as a service’ offering to new and existing broker businesses.

In practice, that means Deus X Markets will provide the full suite of technology and services needed to start a brokerage business, including the front end trading platform and risk management services. The company already has several clients working with them.

Although some readers may not be familiar with the group, Deus X Capital has quickly established itself as a major player in the retail trading industry over the last few years.

Companies in the group, which is headed up by ex-investment bank trader Tim Grant, include tech provider TradeLocker, liquidity provider Alpha Lab 40, and crypto business Cor Prime.

Deus X Markets will be headed up by new CEO Tim Plummer, who has over two decades of experience in the industry.

Plummer has previously held senior roles at a number of brokers, including IG Group and Capital.com. He spent almost a decade at the former firm and had stints as Head of Platform Innovation and Head of Integrated Trading Platforms. At Capital.com he worked as Head of Product Strategy.

“There is a broad failure by broker technology providers to properly support new operators which means the trading industry remains a closed-door club with high barriers and significant failure rates for new entrants,” said Plummer. “Our North Star is to make trading accessible and simple by offering clients fast, reliable set up and administration infrastructure that lets them focus on growth.”
