TradeInformer has learnt that trading platform provider MetaQuotes is putting pressure on some brokers to cease operating in or restrict access to its platforms in India.
We spoke to several firms who confirmed that the platform provider had been in contact about the matter.
However, it is unclear what the exact policy is as some brokers are still able to offer access to Indian customers.
The Indian broker market has come under more scrutiny in the last couple of months.
One large provider stopped taking new customers from the country, where brokers have to rely on reverse solicitation rules for marketing.
OctaFX has also been in the news again after an Indian financial crimes unit claimed it had started the process of an asset freeze for the company.
The same police unit also said that the company’s founder had been arrested in Spain, a claim TradeInformer sources say is untrue and relates to a minor incident which took place several months ago.
