Japanese life insurer Nippon Life Insurance Company began using the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s (TSE) CONNEQTOR platform on April 24, 2026, according to a TSE announcement published on May 26.
CONNEQTOR is TSE’s electronic RFQ platform for ETF trading. It lets institutional investors send quote requests to multiple market makers and execute at the best price offered.
Nippon Life adds a buy-side participant to the platform. Previous CONNEQTOR expansion announcements have largely centred on brokers and connectivity providers, such as BTIG, which began offering access in 2025.
Platform activity
Usage has increased. Monthly trading value via CONNEQTOR reached a record JPY 506.9 billion in January 2026, according to JPX.
TSE introduced its ETF market-making scheme in 2018 and began developing the RFQ function in October 2019. The platform was designed to connect institutional investors, securities companies, and market makers more closely.
CONNEQTOR’s infrastructure has also drawn interest outside Japan. In July 2025, TSE said Fujitsu would develop an ETF trading platform based on CONNEQTOR for the Australian Securities Exchange.
