Retail broker Capital.com has opened an office in South Africa and hired Travis Robson as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Robson was most recently the CEO of rival broker Trive, for both South Africa and the Middle East.
The new Capital.com exec has worked in financial services for over two decades, having started his career in the banking sector.
He held roles at several banks, including ABN AMRO and HSBC, before moving into retail trading in the late 2000s, when he joined South African broker Purple Group.
Robson spent over four years at Purple Group and held senior sales roles at the company.
After leaving Purple Group in 2012, he went on to work briefly at stockbroker PSG Wealth, before moving to London-listed firm IG Group. He held several senior roles at the firm and was ultimately made CEO for the company’s entity in the United Arab Emirates.
Capital.com recently started onboarding UK customers after a lengthy pause. The broker has ambitious plans, with a huge range of new products in the pipeline for the next couple of years, as well a huge hiring push.
