London-based broker CMC Markets has hired Gywen Goh as its new Senior Relationship Manager.
Goh will be a familiar face to readers as she has worked in the online trading industry for close to 10 years now.
Most recently, she worked for XS.com, a broker that is mainly focused on the ASEAN, East Asian, MENA and Latin American markets.
Goh was BD Team Leader at XS for APAC and helped the broker build up a regional hub in Malaysia. The country has become a popular spot for brokers to set up operational offices, which they can use to do business in the wider ASEAN region.
Prior to XS, Goh worked as Head of Key Accounts for the Greater China region at GKFX. She also had stints at Exness and CXM Direct.
Is CMC Markets pushing into emerging markets?
It’s plausible Goh will support CMC’s efforts in growing its business in Singapore.
However, what the broker may also be doing is making more of a push to do business in emerging markets.
The company got a license in Bermuda last year and appears to be using the entity to take clients from places like Latin America and ASEAN.
Malaysia is one country that the broker could be targeting as part of those efforts. Alternatively, and like other firms, it may be that Goh is based in the country but her goal is to target Chinese-speakers across Asia.
