Retail broker Trading 212 has hired Iro Petsa as its new Head of Tax Operations.
Petsa joins the firm from rival broker eToro, where she spent almost six years.
She joined the Israeli firm’s Cyprus office in 2019 as a Tax Operations Analyst and was promoted several times, ultimately becoming a Senior Compliance Officer at the company.
Prior to moving into the brokerage industry, Petsa worked at global accounting firm BDO and local Cypriot firm Dinos Antoniou.
Petsa will work in Trading 212’s Cyprus office but will have responsibility for the company’s growing number of entities.
Over the last 18 months, the company acquired an entity in Germany and set up a brokerage in Australia.
As reported on TradeInformer last month, the company also appears to be in the early stages of setting up an entity in Ireland.
Trading 212 has grown massively over the last decade, with the UK continuing to be its primary market.
The broker was the first company to really use cash equities as a marketing tool to acquire clients, who then switch over into more profitable leveraged products.
