London-based retail stockbroker Freetrade has appointed Jenny Zhao as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Zhao, whose appointment is subject to regulatory approval, will replace Viktor Nebehaj, who co-founded the company a decade ago with Adam Dodds.

The new Freetrade executive comes from a marketing background and was most recently Managing Director at Farewill, a tech company that provides wills and funeral planning services.

Prior to that, Zhao worked for almost five years at clean energy supplier Bulb. She held a number of senior marketing roles at the company and was ultimately General Manager for the group’s activities in France, the US, and Spain.

Zhao also worked at media agency Manning Gottlieb for close to five years.

Freetrade was one of the first players in the UK to launch a commission-free stockbroking offering.

The company, which has grown to have over £4bn in client assets under management, was acquired by IG Group at the beginning of last year.
