Mazen Najjar joins Marex as VP Prime Service Sales

Brokerage executive Mazen Najjar has moved to inter-dealer brokerage group Marex as VP Prime Service Sales.

Najjar joins the firm from IG Group, where he spent almost seven years in the company’s Dubai office.

During his time at IG, Najjar worked in the company’s prime sales team. That meant working alongside the different client segments that IG Prime provides services to, including hedge funds, other OTC brokers, and family offices.

Najjar started his career in the industry over a decade ago at FXCM. He then had stints at other brokers, including EGM Futures and Varengold Bank.

Marex’s expansion into the prime broker sector began in earnest last year, when they acquired prime brokerage firm Cowen.

The goal of that acquisition seems to have been to expand Marex’s client base more into the asset management sector and to provide something like a ‘one stop shop’ for institutional investors. The idea is likely that you can go to them and they will handle everything you need from an infrastructure perspective and you as a firm can focus on your investment strategy.
