Capital.com hires ex-Google exec for Shares.com

Brokerage group Capital.com has apppointed Vladimir Shmidt as its Marketing Director for the new Shares.com brand.

Shmidt joins the firm from Google, where he spent close to five years.

During his time at the company, Shmidt oversaw the company’s dating app and fintech portfolios, the latter of which included companies operating in the retail broker industry.

Prior to joining Google, Shmidt was one of the founders of dating website Teamo.ru. The company was acquired in a 2016 deal by social networking site Wamba.

Shares.com has been live for a couple of months and is operating via a Bahamas license.

The brand appears to be targeting emerging markets and is inaccessible in Capital.com’s core markets, like the UAE and Europe.
