TradeInformer understands that IG Group’s partners lead is leaving the firm to join crypto exchange operator Coinbase.
Alex Ratford worked at IG Group for just over four years and played a key role in growing their affiliate and partners-led growth in the UK and Europe.
During his time at the London-listed firm, Ratford was responsible for onboarding with Impact.com and expanding the broker’s marketing partnership efforts.
Last year Ratford was made Marketing Partnerships Lead for Europe and Emerging Markets, following several internal restructurings, which took place after CEO Breon Corcoran took up his role at the company.
Several senior executives with prior experience at CFD providers have made the switch to crypto over the last few years.
Manuel Del Aguila Barbero, who was at IG Group for almost a decade, moved to Crypto.com at the end of last year.
Former ThinkMarkets and ActiveTrades marketing executive Imane Benhima is also at Coinbase, working as Head of Paid Media for the EMEA region.
A number of ex-IG Group executives also stayed on at Nadex, the company’s US binary options exchange, after it was acquired by Crypto.com in 2022.
That included Steve Goodsell, who was IG’s Head of Exchange and Execution Technology for over 15 years. He is currently Chief Technology Officer for Crypto.com’s derivatives business in the US.
