Brokerage group Tickmill has hired a former Playtech executive as part of its technology team.
Jonathan Bar-Sela has been working for Tickmill since at least April of this year.
He joined the company from Playtech, a major B2B provider in the online gambling sector.
Playtech also owned liquidity provider and retail brokerage operator Finalto for several years but sold the business in 2022.
Bar-Sela worked as Chief Technology Officer for Playtech’s bingo division and then moved on to work in the same role, and as Chief Operating Officer, for the company’s sports division.
The Tickmill exec has worked in software development roles for about two decades.
That includes stints at Israeli insurer Clal Group and US semiconductor company Applied Materials.
Tickmill has historically invested large amounts in technological development.
For example, the broker was one of the only companies in the industry to have had a quantitative research and development team.
That was built by Chariton Christou, who left a couple of years ago to run trading and consulting firm Boltzmann Research.
