CME Group has become the first-ever jersey patch sponsor for the Chicago White Sox under a multi-year agreement announced on Wednesday.
The deal means the Chicago-based derivatives marketplace will be the baseball team’s Official Global Exchange Partner. The CME Group logo will appear on all White Sox uniforms, including home pinstripes, road grays, alternate black jerseys, and the Nike MLB City Connect design.
Coverage spans Spring Training, the regular season, and any postseason games. The partnership also includes fixed signage behind home plate at Rate Field and additional promotional rights.
“Partnering with a team known for grit, achievement and perseverance is a natural fit with the CME Group brand,” said Terry Duffy, CME Group chairman and CEO. “The White Sox are reaching younger, broader and increasingly global audiences, as evidenced by the league’s record revenue and increasing viewership. CME Group is similarly expanding into new markets and client segments, particularly in retail.”
The White Sox were among the remaining MLB teams without a jersey sponsor since the league authorized patch advertisements in its 2022 collective bargaining agreement. Early adopters included the San Diego Padres with Motorola and the Boston Red Sox with MassMutual.
Brooks Boyer, White Sox chief revenue and marketing officer, emphasized the importance of finding a Chicago-based partner.
“The White Sox uniform designs represent so much to our organization, our fans and Chicago, and a bold partnership with CME Group, a Chicago-born company with a global footprint, was a perfect fit,” he said.
The logo design will vary by uniform. On home pinstripes, the blue CME logo sits on a white background with black lettering and border. Road grays feature the logo on a matching gray background, while the City Connect and alternate black jerseys display white lettering on black.
The uniforms will debut on February 20 when the White Sox face the Chicago Cubs in their Cactus League opener. The regular season debut comes on March 26 in Milwaukee against the Brewers, followed by the home opener against Toronto on April 2 at Rate Field.
