Record trading volumes on the CME have been heavily driven by trading in speculative products with small contract sizes.

The contest – called The Leap – can be accessed by traders globally and has a prize pool, backed by CME Group, of $25,000.
CME Group said the new micro futures contracts will be one-tenth the size of their existing counterparts and be cash settled.

CME Group has seen a huge increase in the volume of micro contracts being traded, with gold ADV up to its highest levels ever in 2024.
