Exchange operator Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) reported June and second-quarter 2026 trading statistics on Monday, with total open interest across its markets up 20% year over year and record performance in its financial derivatives complex.
The strongest gains came in interest rates and financials. Total Interest Rates open interest rose 52% year over year, hitting a record 53.0 million lots on June 11. Total Financials open interest rose 46%, also reaching a record of 56.8 million lots on the same date. SONIA open interest rose 85% year over year.
Agriculture & Metals open interest rose 43%, with cotton OI up 109% and cocoa OI up 73%. Average daily volume across the agriculture complex rose 29%.
For the full second quarter, ICE posted record Agriculture & Metals ADV, up 36% year over year, while Total Interest Rates ADV rose 24% and NYSE Equity Options ADV rose 44%.
The June figures extend a period of elevated activity. As covered in ICE’s May update, open interest rose 24% year over year that month and hit a record 130.6 million lots. A year earlier, in June 2025, open interest growth stood at 9%, data from the company shows.
