Hong Kong’s securities regulator, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), published a cybersecurity webinar circular on Friday for firms under its intermediaries supervision remit.
The e-Distribution notice is titled Circular to Licensed Corporations, SFC-licensed Virtual Asset Service Providers and Associated Entities – Cybersecurity Webinar. It was issued through the regulator’s Intermediaries Supervision channel.
Licensed Corporations and SFC-licensed virtual asset service providers (VASPs) are named as recipients. Associated Entities are also included, extending the communication across several parts of the SFC’s supervisory perimeter.
The publication gives licensed brokers and virtual asset businesses a cybersecurity compliance update. However, the accessible record does not provide verifiable details about the webinar’s agenda, registration arrangements, required controls or any compliance deadlines.
The regulator’s Intermediaries Supervision index lists Cybersecurity among its frequently searched subjects. Other listed areas include account opening, anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism, client assets and risk management.
The index helps firms locate circulars, FAQs and thematic reports issued by Intermediaries Supervision. The SFC lists its formal Codes and Guidelines separately.
