Brokerage firm Deriv has launched a campaign to cut spreads on weekend trading products for all of May.
Traders will be able to access a range of index products which Deriv offers on the five weekends throughout the month.
The products are only available on Deriv’s MetaTrader 5 offering.
“trader behaviour still skews heavily towards weekday sessions, even on instruments that are fully available over the weekend,” said Prakash Bhudia, Chief Growth Officer at Deriv. “Earlier this month, we introduced weekend trading conditions specifically designed to address that gap. The data tells us the demand is there.”
Weekend and after hours trading is something more and more brokers have been introducing.
The benefits here are obvious, with brokers able to offer their services 24/7, rather than just during market open hours.
For traders, it means that products can be accessed at a more convenient time. A client in APAC can, for example, trade US equities, without having to wait until 10:30 pm to wait for market open.
“What we are watching now is whether the right market conditions are enough to shift that pattern permanently,” added Bhudia. “Three consecutive weekends of return activity is our signal that a habit has formed. Two is just curiosity.”
