Financial services group Marex Group plc has appointed fintech entrepreneur and former investment banker Georges Assi to its Group Board with immediate effect, the company said on Monday. Assi will serve as a member of the Risk Committee.
Assi is CEO of Sigma Lending, a fintech lender he founded in 2023 that provides UK SMEs with working capital through technology underwriting. He is also co-founder and partner of Naviter Capital, a private credit investment firm he established in 2013.
Before his entrepreneurial career, Assi was a Senior Managing Director at Nomura International, where he ran the Global Credit business and the Fixed Income division in Europe. He previously spent eight years at Lehman Brothers in senior roles, including Global Head of Structured Credit and co-Head of Fixed Income in Europe.
“He brings a combination of demonstrable success as an entrepreneur and expertise in the fintech industry, together with a solid grounding in investment banking and financial markets,” said Robert Pickering, Chair of the Marex Board.
NASDAQ-listed Marex provides market access, clearing, execution, and hedging services across more than 60 exchanges, with over 3,400 active clients and 3,000 employees worldwide.
