Brokerage executive Hasan Hamd has joined broker Cara Markets as its new Chief Commercial Officer.
Hamd joins the firm after leaving rival broker ADSS at the end of last year.
He worked at ADSS for just over a decade on the broker’s institutional desk. He joined the company in 2014 as Vice President of the Institutional Desk for eFX.
During his time at the firm, he was promoted on a couple of occasions, and was ultimately a Director in the firm’s institutional sales team.
Hamd has worked in the online trading industry for almost two decades.
He began his career at Overseas Financial Group in Beirut and had stints as the Head of Trading Desk at Lebanese broker Premium Capital Group. After leaving Premium Capital, Hamd worked for two years on the institutional desk at Alpari.
What is Cara Markets?
Cara Markets, the company that Hamd has just joined, appears to be a new brand.
The broker received a Category 1 license from the Securities and Commodities Authority in the United Arab Emirates in February of this year.
These licenses are typically harder to get and allow firms to engage in market making and hold client funds. Many brokers do not get the license and instead use a Category 5 license, which lets them do marketing and introduce clients to a related, offshore brand.
The company has MetaTrader 5 and – more unusually – CQG, which is more geared towards exchange-traded derivatives products.
