Financial technology provider and investment firm United Fintech announced on Wednesday that it has hired Rupsa Mukherjee as its new Head of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A).

Mukherjee joins the group from the investment banking division at Deutsche Bank, where she advised firms on M&A deals exceeding $20bn in size.

She is a chartered accountant and also holds an MBA from the Wharton School in the US.

“I’m thrilled to join United Fintech at such a pivotal moment,” said Mukherjee. “The opportunity to help scale a platform that is reshaping the financial services technology landscape is incredibly exciting. I look forward to working with founders, investors, and banks to build lasting value through strategic growth.”

In a statement, United Fintech said that Mukherjee will be working alongside company Founder and CEO Christian Frahm to identify potential acquisition targets and structure ‘founder-friendly’ transactions that fit with the company’s long-term vision.

“Rupsa brings the right combination of M&A discipline and fintech fluency,” said Frahm. “Her ability to originate, structure, and integrate strategic acquisitions will be instrumental in unlocking new opportunities across our ecosystem.”

United Fintech was set up in 2020 and has acquired several companies since then, including CobaltFX and FairXchange.

The company appears to be targeting the sort of small-to-mediums sized firms in the financial technology space that, despite being great companies, would struggle to scale and achieve an exit via IPO. Consequently they have to look for private buyers, like United Fintech.
