Christos Drakos Trading 212 executive

Brokerage group Trading 212 has hired Christos Drakos to work as its Head of Crypto.

Drakos is based in Trading 212’s Cypriot office.

The Bulgarian firm was registered as a Crypto Asset Services Provider (CASP) with the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) in May of last year.

Drakos joins the broker from Revolut, where he spent the last three years.

He joined the firm in September of 2022 and was an Executive Director at the fintech’s Cypriot entity.

Prior to Revolut, he worked at retail brokers ArgusFX and ETX Capital, both of which are now defunct.

Drakos spent three years at the latter firm, which was a relatively big player in the UK industry for a period of time.

A CASP license gives the holder the ability to deal in and provide custodial services for cryptocurrencies.

The license will allow Trading 212 to provide physical crypto trading services to customers. This will presumably be used by the broker to passport services to clients across the European Union.
