CFD trading firm EC Markets announced on Monday that it has renewed its partnership with snooker player Judd Trump.
The broker has already worked with Trump since the start of last year. Trump has worn EC Markets branding during matches, for example, and has worked with the broker on other marketing efforts.
In a statement, the broker said the partnership will see Trump partner with EC Markets for digital and social media marketing campaigns.
EC Markets will also get benefits from the partnerships. For example, signed Trump memorabilia can be up for grabs in the broker’s trading competitions.
“Together, EC Markets and I have accomplished great things,” said Trump. “I’m excited to see what new milestones we’ll reach in this chapter of our partnership.”
Although snooker is often thought of as a UK-centric sport, that is no longer the case.
The sport is extremely popular in Asia, particularly in China. According to Time, there are more than 350m snooker fans across Asia, with the sport proving particularly popular in China and the ASEAN countries.
Moreover, in the UK, most fans are above 50. In contrast, around 80% of snooker fans in China are under 50.
The result is that Trump’s reach is far more global than you might assume and he can thus act as a strong brand awareness figure for EC Markets globally.
The broker is multi-regulated and gets a lot of business in Asia. However, the company recently hired Adam Saward to head up its UK entity and is in the early stages of making a push into the UK market.
