German football club Bayer Leverkusen announced on Monday that it has formed a new media partnership with retail brokerage group eToro. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“After Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s incredible success last season, this is an exciting time for a partnership,” said Stephanie Wilks-Wiffen, Director of Marketing UK & DACH at eToro. “eToro’s goal is to make investing accessible to everyone, just as football brings people together regardless of their background. Our partnership with Bayer 04 Leverkusen reflects our commitment to expanding our community and connecting with sports fans.”
The partnership is very similar to those that eToro has already established in other markets, notably in the UK, with other football teams.
For example, eToro branding will appear at the mixed zone, the area where staff and players are interviewed after matches. The company’s branding will also be in the club’s press conference room, which appears in interviews before and after matches.
Alongside this, eToro advertising will appear on the side boards at games – something you see frequently during Premier League matches. Other benefits of the partnership include featuring in the Bayer 04 mobile app, which fans use frequently on match days, and VIP tickets for games.
“We are delighted to welcome eToro ‘under the cross’,” said Markus Breglec, Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer at Bayer Leverkusen. “Another innovative and global company has found its way to us and wants to expand its awareness and points of contact with us through football in Germany and internationally in the coming years.”
