Market analyst Neil Wilson has joined the UK arm of Saxo Bank as the company’s Investor Strategist.
Wilson has worked in the retail broker and investments space for over a decade.
He originally worked at financial marketing agency Axonn for over six years, progressing from an initial Content Writer role to become the company’s Senior Finance and Economics Writer.
In 2016, he moved into the retail broker space when he joined now-defunct broker ETX Capital as a Market Analyst.
After two years at the firm, he moved on to join Markets.com, where he was Chief Market Analyst for almost seven years, with regular appearances in the UK and global financial press. He was B2B Chief Market Analyst for Finalto, the owner of Markets.com, in his final two years at the firm.
Wilson has also written a popular trading column for Investor’s Chronicle, a popular UK investor magazine owned by the Financial Times, for several years.
Saxo Bank has pivoted strongly over the last few years to try and position itself as an investment platform, rather than a place to trade speculatively.
Like other platforms, such as Trading 212 and XTB, the goal seems to be to to provide ‘all in one’ service. Lower revenue products are used for marketing and then a proportion of those people ultimately switch into trading more profitable products.
Saxo Bank was recently acquired by Swiss asset management and private banking firm J Safra Sarasin. The deal valued Saxo Bank at $1.7bn, with the Swiss firm acquiring 70% of the company.
