Spectrum Markets adds ETF trading

Spectrum Markets announced on Tuesday that it has launched trading in exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

More than 1,700 ETFs can now be accessed on the trading venue. In its statement, Spectrum Markets noted that ICF Bank, a German market maker, has been chosen to act as liquidity provider for the new instruments.

“ETFs are one of the most exciting product classes right now, and so Spectrum Markets is pleased that we were able to instantly respond to this demand,” said Spectrum Markets CEO Nicky Maan.

Based in Frankfurt, Spectrum Markets is a subsidiary of IG Group. The company was formed primarily to enable trading in listed derivatives for European clients.

Until now that has meant that the exchange only offered warrants, turbo warrants, and constant leverage warrants. These latter instruments resemble leveraged ETFs and can be used to take either long or short positions on various underlying instruments.

Since launching in 2019, the company has added several brokers – aside from IG – as members. That includes Italian firms Intermonte and Equita, as well as Spanish firm iBroker. Societe Generale and UniCredit act as market makers on Spectrum, alongside IG-owned BrightPool.
