Construction work on the IG Arena in the Japanese city of Nagoya has been completed.
Tetsu Uemura, Head of Communications for the arena, announced the news over the weekend.
A ceremony to mark the compeletion of the project was also held, with Aichi Governor Hideaki Omura in attendance. Another 400 public representatives for the prefecture were invited to attend.
IG Arena is a multi-purpose arena that will be used for different events, like sporting bouts and music concerts.
London-based broker IG Group announced that it had taken a decade-long sponsorship agreement for the stadium in February of last year.
The agreement means that the space will be called IG Arena, and have the brokerage firm’s branding on it, for the next 10 years.
When we spoke to IG Japan CEO Tomoharu Furuichi last year, he noted that the agreement was part of a wider brand building effort that the company has been engaged in.
Leaving aside greater brand awareness, the sponsorship was in part undertaken to reassure clients that IG will be in Japan for the long-term.
