Yiannis Kontoyiannis has joined IC Markets’ EU entity as Head of Funding.
Kontoyiannis joins the broker from D Prime, where he was also Head of Funding. He joined D Prime in the summer of 2023 in an accounting role and was promoted twice during his time at the Chinese broker.
D Prime, which recently rebranded from Doo Prime, has let go a number of senior staff from its Cypriot entity over the last few months.
The broker’s offices in Malaysia were also subject to a police raid earlier this year.
Aside from D Prime, Kontoyiannis has worked at two other brokers. He got his start in the online trading industry as an accountant at Limassol-based FXPRIMUS.
He spent almost two-and-a-half years at the broker before moving to rival brand OneRoyal, where he also worked in an accounting role.
IC Markets has gone through a process of separating its different entities over the last 12 months or so.
The company now has standalone entities in the European Union and Australia that focus solely on those markets, with the group’s main headquarters in Dubai.
However, the bulk of the broker’s business goes through its offshore entity in the Seychelles.
