Mateusz Zelek

Brokerage executive Mateusz Zelek has been hired by RoboMarkets as Managing Director of its Polish branch.

The entity was set up at the end of July last year. Not long after that, RoboMarkets said it would stop providing CFDs in Europe to retail clients and instead use its German-regulated entity for stockbroking and its Cypriot one for B2B services.

The company was following a common trend in the industry, which has seen many firms either hand back their license from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission or switch it so that it’s only for institutional services.

The Polish entity is tied to the German one in corporate filings, so it’s plausible it will be used to market the broker’s stockbroking offering in Poland.

Zelek joins the firm from technology provider Match-Trade Technologies, where he spent almost six years, initially in a broker support role, before being made Deputy Head of Dealing and Broker Support.

Prior to Match-Trade, he worked at currency exchange and payments firm Ebury.
